Female Meiosis: Coming Unglued with Age
نویسندگان
چکیده
Chromosome abnormalities in humans are strikingly associated with increasing maternal age. Studies in mice implicate loss of chromosome cohesion as an important cause of age-related meiotic errors in the oocyte.

What can Lattices do for Teaching Math. & Education?
A reasonable size example coming from cognitive psychology is re-analyzed with standard tools of FCA and Lattice Analysis. Developmental shifts / classifications are explored on a descriptive and graphical viewpoint, through attribute implications and unglued decomposition in regular intervals. This assesses child similarities in performance and behavior, while comparing intervals focuses on wh...
متن کاملChromosomal Abnormalities in Reimplantation Development
Direct testing of the outcome of human female meiosis demonstrated that up over a half of oocytes from IVF patients of advanced reproductive age are aneuploid, originating comparably from meiosis I and meiosis II errors, with potential probability of aneuploidy rescue in an almost half of oocytes with sequential first and second meiotic errors. One fifth of abnormalities originating from meiosi...
متن کاملThe cytogenetics of polar bodies: insights into female meiosis and the diagnosis of aneuploidy.
Female meiosis is comprised by two cell divisions, meiosis I (MI) and II (MII) and two different stages at which the development of the oocyte is temporarily halted. In the case of MI, this pause can potentially last for four to five decades. This added layer of complexity distinguishes female gametogenesis from its male counterpart. The single most important genetic factor impacting human repr...

Background To assess embryos derived by the transfer of meiosis-II chromosomes (M-II-t) from aged mice oocytes into ooplasms from younger mice to overcome the problem of age-related decline in female fertility. MaterialsAndMethods The developmental capacity karyotype and ultrastructure of reconstructed oocytes derived from meiosis-II chromosome transplantation from aged mice into the ooplasms o...
متن کاملI-51: The Role of the Transcription FactorGCNF in Germ Cell Differentiation and Reproductionin Mice
The germ cell nuclear factor (GCNF) is a member of the nuclear receptor super family of transcription factors. GCNF expression during gastrulation and neurulation is critical for normal embryogenesis in mice. GCNF represses expression of the POU domain transcription factor Oct4 during mouse post-implantation development in vivo. Oct4 is thus down-regulated during female gonadal development, whe...
